• "The Handybook for Genealogists, United States of America Edition" by The Everton Publishers Inc.

  This books is an excellent research aid for genealogists. It outlines information and resources for each state and county in the United States including couty seats, vital records and years available and a comprehensive listing of archives, genealogical libraries and societies for each state. (Available through Everton or Amazon.com)

• "Ancestry's Red Book" by Ancestry

  This book is similar to "The Handybook for Genealogists" and available through Amazon.com)

• "Historical Atlas" by William R. Shepherd

  A necessity for those who are into serious genealogical research. It contains maps from the early 1900's back to 1300 B.C. It is an excellent resource for determining changes in country boundaries and historical events. (This book is out -of-print but I located it at MX BookFinder for used book dealers)

• "The Source, A Guidebook of American Genealogy" by Ancestry

  Is a good primer for genealogical research and is intended to identify and describe the rich body of original research material that is available. (Available through Amazon.com)

• "The Timetables of History" by Bernard Grun

  This reference is a horizontal linkage of people and events worldwide from 4500 BC to the present day. Categories covered are History-Politics, Literature-Theater, Religion-Philosophy-Learning, Visual Arts, Music, Science-Technology-Growth , and Daily Life. This is a must have for anyone who is a history nut! (Available through your local bookstore or Amazon.com)
